FRIDAY, JULY 1

Summer Pops: Celebrate America: The Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops series finale includes “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “Armed Services Salute,” “Liberty Fanfare” and much more, followed by fireworks. Gates open at 5 p.m. Prelude act begins at 7 p.m. The Pops concert is followed by celebratory fireworks. $16 for adults. Free for under 18. U.S. National Whitewater Center’s Fourth of July Celebration: Events include a cornhole tournament at 3 p.m. (registration $30 per team), and musical performances from Fireside Collective at 4 p.m., The Congress at 6 p.m. and The Wood Brothers at 8 p.m. 9:30 p.m. fireworks. 5000 Whitewater Parkway. - SkyShow Charlotte: The street party will have kids crafts and activities in an Interactive Kids Area, News Talk 1110 WBT will broadcast live from the street with SkyShow Radio, and various food vendors will be on hand along with an Olde Mecklenburg Brewery beer booth and wine from Shelton Vineyards. Live entertainment scheduled from 3-9 p.m., and the Charlotte Knights take on the Pawtucket Red Sox at BB&T Ballpark at 6:05 p.m. Fireworks after the game.
